Information Update 22 12 08

The purpose of this update is to:

· provide members of Neighbourhood Watch(NHW) with relevant and timely information about what is going on in their area. Some of this information may appear in the local press. However, it is provided to NHW members in advance of any publication, so they can use the information, where relevant, to inform their community.


· ask NHW members to let the police know immediately if they have any information about any of the incidents in the update, that is, if they have seen or heard anything, either at the time of the incident, or following the incident, that may assist in bringing perpetrators of crime to justice.

· remind NHW members of the need to report immediately anything unusual, or out of the ordinary, that happens in their area. NHW members are asked to be especially vigilant for activities around the homes of vulnerable members of the community, for instance, the elderly, who may be particularly targeted because of their vulnerability.

Maldon

Reported on 18 December. It was noted that the church carpets at the church in The Street, Woodham Walter, were getting wet. When the roof was accessed, it was discovered that the lead to the roof valley had been prised off. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Between 1345 and 1415 on 18 December, but reported at 1615 (!), a tan fabric purse was removed from a bag held in the hand in High Street. The purse contained £20 in cash and car keys. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Between 1200 on 19 December and 0830 on 20 December, at Leslie Newnham Court, the nearside door of a silver Vauxhall Vectra was scratched. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Steeple

Overnight on 19/20 December at Steeple Bay Holiday Park, Canney Road, a white Swift Challenger Tourer A 2004 Model 4 berth caravan was stolen. Persons unknown forced entry to the locked park, by cropping the padlock and cutting the chain. They removed the wheel locks from the caravan and towed it away, using an unknown vehicle. Burnham on Crouch

Overnight on 20/21 December, on High Street, the front nearside window of a white Ford Mondeo was smashed. Information to Southminster Police Station.

Chris's report 15th Dec 08

Information Update 151208

Burnham on Crouch

At about 0430 on 14 December, police were called to a disturbance at a property in Glendale Road. They found a 20 year old male with multiple stab wounds who was taken to hospital and later discharged. 3 people are being held in custody and possible weapons were removed from the scene. Police are not looking for any other suspects.

During the day of 9 December, a house in Green Lane was burgled and jewellery and a laptop and iPod were stolen. There was no forced entry. Information to Dc Steven Bennett.



Mayland


Around 1715 on 9 December at North Drive, the pane of a window in the front door in a property was damaged, estimated at £50. Information to Pc Andrew Jopson.


Tillingham

Between 3/4 December at Mill Road, the paintwork of a black Vauxhall Astra was scratched, causing £500 damage. Information to Pc Kerry Shelford.



Maldon

At Newnham Court, overnight on 7/8 December a silver Vauxhall Vectra was damaged by scratching the bonnet and offside of the vehicle. Damage estimated at £300. Information to Pc Ovais Chaudry.

Overnight on 8/9 December, from a property in Fambridge Road, a white Scania tipper was stolen, with a value of £14,000. Information to Sgt Tim Marshall.

Overnight on 11/12 December, a blue Vauxhall Corsa, with a set of golf clubs inside the care was stolen from Fitches Crescent. Information to Pc Yasmina Sakauloo.

Around 1030 on 10 December, at Boots the Chemists, a woman’s purse was stolen when left unattended on the counter. The victim was in her 80’s. Information to Pc Robert Eveling.

The Promenade Park, and some of the surrounding streets have been designated an alcohol zone and, from 19 December, police and park rangers will be enforcing the order. This does not mean that people cannot enjoy a drink in the park, but it does give police the power to stop people drinking, where they are underage or causing a nuisance or indulging in anti social behaviour, confiscate the alcohol and arrest anyone who does not comply. Mundon

Overnight on 12/13 December, a storage building on Burnham Road was broken into, by smashing a window and a Kawasaki quad bike, Ifor Williams trailer and some tools were stolen. Information to Pc Yasmina Sakauloo.

During the night of 13/14 December, at a property in Main Road, four sets of Christmas lights were stolen from a driveway, valued at £40. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Heybridge

Overnight on 12/13 December the roof of a blue Fiat Isea was dented in the Causeway.

During the same night in Goldhanger Road, the front nearside window of a black Toyota was smashed with a brick. Information to Pc Yasmina Sakauloo.

Overnight on 13/14 December at Goldhanger Road, a brick was thrown at the windscreen of a blue and black Ford Transit, smashing it.

During the same night, at Goldhanger Road, the front windscreen and both front lights of a grey Ford Transit were smashed. Information to Pc Tracy Box.

Information Update 081208

Burnham on Crouch

A grey Vauxhall Astra was damaged overnight on 3/4 December in Ship Road, when liquid was thrown over the car, causing the paintwork to bubble. Damage estimated at £2,000. Information to PC Alan Bowen.


Mayland

At Harlow and Blackwater Sailing Club, North Drive, between 22 November and 6 December, a white Swift sailing boat was broken into, by wrenching the top hatch. The boat was then occupied and a sleeping bag, fire extinguisher and various food items were taken. Information to Pc Dawn Smith.

Overnight on December 3/4 the tailgate of a white VW Caddy pickup truck was stolen in Wembley Avenue. The tailgate is valued at £1,000. Information to Southminster Police Station.


Tillingham

Between 19 and 29 November, the Village Hall in Vicarage Lane was broken into, by breaking a glass window on a door. Nothing was taken but damage is estimated at £100. Information to Pc Jackie Thorogood.


Bradwell on Sea

Between October 30 and 12 December, a cabinet at the power station was broken into and a Mega Multi voltmeter was stolen. Information to Pc Paul Hales.


North Fambridge

During the day of 4 December, a rear door at a property in Church Road was forced and various items, including jewellery and electrical goods were stolen. Police are keen for any information on a black Mini Cooper, with blacked out windows and 9 spoke alloys, seen in the area between 1420 and 1440. Information to Ds Gary McNair.


Purleigh

There was a burglary on the same day at The Street in Purleigh. Information to Ds Gary McNair.


Maldon

On 1 December, in the High Street, between 1130 and 1145am, items were stolen from a zipped up baby changing bag, which was in the bottom of a pram. Items included a purse, cash and cards. Information to Pc Alison King.

In the High Street between 1215 and 1230 on 6 December, a purse containing cash was stolen from a woman’s bag, which she was carrying over her arm. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Between 1810 and 1820 on 6 December, a female went into the Co-op store and took several bottles of wine and a wine box, which she concealed in a bag and left without paying. The woman is described as a white female, about 5’5” tall, with long red auburn hair, wearing dark coloured jeans, bottle green top, flat black shoes and carrying a large black handbag on her shoulder. At Burns Close, between 31 October and 3 December, fence panels were damaged when they were holed. Information to Pc Neil Tremain.

On 6 December in the car park of King George’s place, between 2240 and 2320, the front offside door frame of a red Ford Escort was damaged, estimated at £150. Information to Pc Neil Tremain.

At the same time, date and place, the rear offside quarter light of a purple Ford Fiesta was smashed, damage estimated at £65. Information to Pc Neil Tremain.

Overnight on 6/7 December at The Hythe, the canvas roof of a red MG was slashed, causing £850 of damage. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Overnight on 6/7 December, in Church Street, the front offside window of a grey Renault 5 was smashed. The glovebox of the vehicle was searched, but nothing was taken. Damage estimated at £150. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Overnight on 6/7 December, also in Church Street, the rear offside quarterlight of a red Nissan Micra was smashed, to unlock the door. The ignition cowling was removed. Damage estimated at £50. Information to Pc Neil Tremain.

Overnight on 6/7 December, in Downs Road, the front nearside window of a blue Honda Civic was smashed. A bag was removed and left on the ground outside the car. Nothing was taken. Damage estimated at £200. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Information Update 011208

Burnham on Crouch


Overnight on 24/25 November, an outer pane of the conservatory door at Fairway Drive was shattered. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Overnight on 26/27 November, a red Nissan Cabstar was stolen from outside of a house in Dorset Road. Information to Pc Sam Pateman.

Between 21/24 November, the roof of a red Vauxhall Nova in Coronation Road was damaged when someone ran over it (in person). Information to Southminster Police Station.


Mayland

A house in West Avenue was broken into between 18/20 November. No damage was caused but gold jewellery, valued at £6000, was stolen. Information to Dc Alison Cotter.


Southminster

During the evening of 27 November, the nearside panels of a grey Nissan Primera were scratched, causing damage estimated at £300. Information to Southminster Police Station.


Maldon

Overnight on 24/25 November, a blue and silver Porsche 924 was stolen from London Road. The vehicle was later recovered at St Francis Roman Catholic School, West Chase. Information to Pc Michele Oliver.

At Church Street, between 1730 and 1830 on 27 November, a lady left her bag on her doorstep and it was stolen. It was returned later by a man, but various cards and some cash were missing.

In Essex Road, overnight on 27/28 November, the rear windscreen of a grey Nissan Zafira was smashed. Information to Pc Alan Bowen.

Between noon on 26 November and 0700 on 28 November, a black Renault Clio was broken into and a radio and 3 CDs were stolen. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Around 0120 on 29 November, the nearside wing mirror on a red Ford Escort was smashed. Suspects are described as three males aged around 16-17, wearing Adidas joggers and hoodies.. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Overnight in Victoria Road on 27 November, but probably around 2300, the following cars were damaged:
Black Mitsubishi L200 – dent to door caused by kick
White Ford Orion – wing mirror smashed
Blue Vauxhall Astra – wing mirror smashed
Black Toyota Rav 4 – dent to nearside door caused by kick

There is little that can be done to prevent this kind of criminal damage, but cars should be parked off road wherever possible, otherwise wing mirrors should be folded to deter damage. Information to Pc Ovais Chaudry.


Heybridge

During late afternoon on 25 November, the door was forced in garages at The Square, casing £300 of damage. It is not known if anything was stolen. Information to Pc Jackie Thorogood.

Overnight on 25/26 November, the front window of the Cherry Tree Bakery was smashed, causing £300 of damage. Information to Pc Kerry Shelford.

Between 26/28 November, a blue Citroen Saxo at Wood Road was broken into and a jack, rear light clusters, rear parcel shelf with 2 8” speakers fitted were stolen. Information to Maldon Police Station.

At around 0545 on 30 November a perfume bottle was thrown at a silver Mitsubishi Carisma, denting the bonnet and smashing the windscreen. Information to Ps Dean Stratford.


Latchingdon

Between 0100 and 0700 on 28 November, at Ramsey Chase, a silver Mitsubishi Shogun was broken into and a silver DVD player and 8 DVDs were stolen. Information toPc Alan Bowen.


North Fambridge

At a house in Brabant Road, between 24/27 November, damage was caused to a wrought iron gate. Information to Maldon Police Station.
