Information Update 21 06 09
Information from Southend on Sea - the EWA has been advised by the Parks Department that to date they have had 25, one metre square rubber safety tiles stolen from children's playgrounds. These are probably being stolen for use in private gardens around children's swings, climbing frames etc. and are possibly being disposed of through boot fairs etc
If this type of theft has not reached Essex yet, it will probably be a matter of time.
Please let the police know if any of these tiles are stolen or if you see any for sale.
Information from Trading Standards – there is a firm called RoofRite Roofing offering maintenance services around the Maldon area. There is no problem with the work done, but the charges are considered to be unnecessarily high. If anyone is approached they would be advised not to agree to any work without getting a minimum of 3 quotes. If in any doubt, contact Paul Hardy at Trading Standards on 07920 467027.
For the attention of all farms and smallholdings etc – in mid-June a large quantity of tractor weights were seized following an arrest. Some of the weights were identified as stolen from Waldegraves Farm, Widdington. The remainder of weights re yet to be claimed or reported as stolen.
Please check to make sure that you have not had any tractor weights stolen – likely dates are between 5 and 8 June 2009. If you are missing any, please contact me as soon as possible.

Around 1230 on 17 June at a property in Alamein Road, the resident discovered an unidentified male in her dining room. She told him to go and he left via the rear door. Nothing was taken. The male is described as in his late 20’s, about 5’10” tall with mousy brown collar length hair, a skinny build, with a pale washed out complexion, wearing blue jeans, and a dark t-shirt with a motif on the chest.
It is thought the male gained entry through an insecure back door – please make sure doors are secured, even in this hot weather, or consider buying a door alarm (if there is a need for these, I can order some and sell them at cost - £4.00 each with a minimum order of 25).
