Information Update 241108

Burnham on Crouch

In Providence, between 2120 and 2230 on 22 November, a continuous line was scratched on the nearside paintwork of a black Peugeot 206. Information to Southminster Police Station.

The roof of a white Nissan Micra Shape was damaged overnight on 17/18 November, when someone ran and jumped on the roof, causing dents and footprints. Information to Pc Sam Pateman.

Between 1 August and 31 October, a twin wheeled steel trailer, with grey mudguards and “Nigel” on the side, was stolen from Burnham Yacht Harbour Marina, Foundry Lane. Information to Southminster Police Station.

Just past midnight on 22 November, entry was attempted to a property in Ferry Road, when a single glazed window to the front door was broken. The resident dog scared off the would-be burglars. Information to Pc Rod Gaskin.

The index plates from a blue VW Golf were stolen between the afternoon of 22 November and 1.00pm on 23 November. Information to Southminster Police Station.

This is the third theft of number plates in 2 weeks – previous thefts are not just from Burnham. If anyone looks suspicious around the area of a car, please contact the police immediately.


Southminster

Overnight on 20/21 November a stone lion (garden ornament) was smashed at a property in Cherry Orchard. Information to Pc Sam Pateman.

Overnight on 22/23 November, at The Wellingtons, a green Ford Fiesta was broken into and a Ripseed CD/DVD was stolen, valued at £300. Information to Southminster Police Station.


Tollesbury

Overnight on 17/18 November, a battery unit for a farmland fence was stolen from North Road. Information to Maldon Police Station.


Stow Maries

Overnight on 17/18 November, a unit at a farm in Lower Burnham Road was broken into and a small yellow Thwaites skip loading dumper, weighing ¾ ton, was stolen, valued at £500. Information to Maldon Police Station.



Althorne

At around 11.15am on 18 November at Burnham Road, an unidentified white male, in his mid 20’s, about 5’7” tall, medium build, mousy brown medium length hair and wearing a high visibility jacket, broke into a locked red Nissan Cabstar flatbed van and drove away. He crashed the van into a nearby telegraph pole and ran away. Information to Pc Alexander Black.


Maldon

Overnight on 19/20 November, at Downs Road, a secure silver Rover Metro CD was stolen from outside a property. Information to Pc Sonia Mirrington.

A brick was thrown through the front window of the Tavern Garage, The Causeway, overnight on 17/18 November, causing £300 damage. Information to Pc Sonia Mirrington.

Late afternoon on 21 November, a blue BMX bike, which was left on the ground outside a house in St Peters Avenue, was stolen. Information to Pc Richard Pateman.

A pedal cycle was stolen from the rear yard of WH Smiths, High Street, about 11.00am on 21 November. Information to Maldon Police Station.

The main entrance door at St Peters Hospital was forced overnight on 20/21 November. Nothing was taken (as far as can be ascertained). Information to Pc Alison King.

The front door of the UK Fish Bar, Royal Court was kicked in at 11.15pm on 22 November. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Overnight on 17/18 November, a light blue Nissan Micra was damaged in Victoria Road, when the top half of the rear nearside door was bent in an effort to gain entry. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Overnight on 18/19 November, on Market Hill, the front offside window and front offside door locked were damaged on a parked white Ford Fiesta. Information to Maldon Police Station.

At 2112 on 17 November on London Road a white European male was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon – a Stanley knife was found in his front jumper pocket. He has now been charged.


Heybridge

Overnight on 19/20 November, from a house in Creasen Butt Close, a locked GT Vertigo blue pedal cycle was stolen from the garden of the property. Information to Pc Sonia Mirrington.

Overnight on 17/18 November, a brick was thrown through the front window of the Tavern Garage, The Causeway. Information to Maldon Police Station.


South Woodham Ferrers

At Creekview Road during the day of 20 November, some tools – Bosch 240 v SDS drill in box – were stolen from an insecure grey Toyota Hiace van. Information to SWF Station.

A house in The Spinnaker was broken into during the night of 21/22 November, when a rear window was smashed. Various items were taken, including a Nintendo Wii, Apple iPod MP3 player, Hitachi Hi Fi system, foreign currency, mens jewellery and watches, 46” flat screen TV, TV and DVD, passports, silver knife, Adidas rucksack and suit carry bag. Burnham on Crouch


On 9 November at 6.00pm, in Tescos Express at Station Road, a wallet was stolen from a basket at the till. The suspect is a white male, about 5’10” tall with short dark hair, medium build, wearing a dark green waist length coat and blue jeans. Any information to Pc Andrew Jopson.

Late afternoon on 12 November, a silver BMW 328i, was stolen from Creaksea Caravan Park, Ferry Road. Information to Pc Ruth Cordey.

Southminster

At a house in North End, between 11/12 November, damage was caused to the two outer panels of double glazed front windows, shattering one and holing the other. Information to Pc Kerry Shelford.

Maldon

Overnight on 8/9 November in Wentworth Meadows, the wing mirror was ripped off a green Landrover Series 2. Information to Pc Michelle Oliver.

A window was smashed in Downs Road during the early evening of 14 November, when a brick was thrown. Information to Pc Ovais Chaudry.

Between 845 and 855pm on 14 November, the nearside wing mirror of a black Vauxhall Tigra was smashed in Mill Road. Information to Pc Ovais Chaudry.

Overnight of 14/15 November in Fambridge Road, the nearside front door of a silver Ford Galaxy was scratched. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Between 15/16 November, in King Street, the front offside wing mirror was smashed on a gold Proton.

Just after midnight on 15 November, a rock was thrown through the ground floor side window of the Rose and Crown in the High Street. Information to Pc Alison King.

At the Marconi Sailing Club, Stansgate Road, between 9 and 15 November, a grey Mailspeed Charter inflatable dinghy was stolen. The dinghy was chained to the onshore rack by padlock, which was cut through.

Within the same time period, entry into a boat was forced at the same location and various items, including and engine and TV were stolen. Information on both incidents to Paul Rawson.

At Viking Road, overnight on 15/16 November, thieves broke into an insecure garage and stole a wheelchair. Information to Maldon Police Station.

At Mundon Road, overnight on 14/15 November, the nearside wing mirror was snapped off a silver Peugeot 206. Information to Maldon Police Station.

At Cross Road overnight on 14/15 November, the index plates were stolen off a purple Renault Modus. Information to Maldon Police Station.

At Fullbridge, overnight on 13/14 November, the rear nearside window of a Peugeot 306 was smashed. Information to Pc Dean Stratton.

Overnight on 16 November, in Essex Road, the side pence panel was kicked down and a garden gnome stolen. Information to Maldon Police Station.



Heybridge


Between 9/11 November, a 20HP outboard motor, valued at £2600, was stolen from a boat at Osea Road Caravan Park, Goldhanger Road. Information to Maldon Police Station.

At Wood Road, overnight on 15/16 November, a rock was thrown at a windscreen of a blue Vauxhall Corsa, cracking it. Information to Maldon Police Station.

Wickham Bishops

From a garage in Maypole Road overnight on 14/15 November, the index plates were stolen from a silver Ford Focus. Information to Witham Police.


Cold Norton


During the day of 11 November, entry to a property in Stephens Road was forced and various items, including cash and jewellery were stolen. Information to Dc Patrick Snape.

Sandon

A shed was broken into in Green Road, Sandon, overnight on 13/14 November and garden tools were stolen, including a hedge trimmer, leaf blower and chainsaw. Information to Chelmsford Police Station.

From a farm in Mayes Lane between 11/14 November, a twin axle Ifor William horsebox was stolen from behind an outbuilding. The horsebox was secured with a wheel clamp, which was removed. Information to Chelmsford.

Danbury

Just after midnight on 14 November, thieves broke into the Co-op, Main Road by forcing the side door. They made a messy search and stole a large amount of cigarettes and cigars. Information to Danbury Police Station.

During the day and evening of 13 November, a house in Pear Tree Lane was broken into. The burglars reached through the letter box to open the front door. They made a messy search and stole jewellery, cutlery, a saxophone and a passport. Information to Chelmsford please.

In Well Lane, Danbury, during the evening of 8 November, a mobile phone was taken from the jacket pocket of a young girl. Information to Chelmsford.

Bogus caller... Wivenhoe

This is from the Essex Watch Adminstrator, Eastern Division.

At approximately 3.30 pm 1st November a male tried to enter the home of an elderly female in Lammas Way, Wivenhoe posing as a Waterboard official. The male was described as white, dark hair, approx 40 yrs with a local accent. He was wearing a blue anorak. No ID was shown.

There was a second male seen at the side of the house but no description was given.
Luckily the lady was very on the ball and refused entry.

Also,
A possible suspect in a new black open backed vehicle was observed near the Co-op Wivenhoe. This vehicle has since been seen in the Millfields area and again near the Garage opposite the Co-op.

Information Update 101108

Burnham on Crouch

At Dots Launderette, on Station Road, sometime overnight on October 31 and 1 November, four strips of lead, valued at £1000, were stolen from the roof, leaving a hole and causing £600 of damage.

During the afternoon of November 7, an insecure blue Claude Butler mountain bike, worth £250, was stolen from a property in Darcy Close.

Late on 6 November, at Martins, Newsagents, on Station Road, suspects gained entry by forcing the front door, which was already damaged from a previous incident. They made a messy search and stole a number of Lambert and Butler and Benson and Hedges cigarettes. If anyone is offered any cheap cigarettes, please contact the police.

During the afternoon of 7 November, a padlocked bicycle was stolen from the side of a property in Chapel Road. The lock was cut.


Bradwell on Sea

During the day on 3 November, at Eastland Meadows Country Park, East End Road, a Calor Gas sign was smashed, causing £100 worth of damage.


Southminster

Between 31 October and 3 November, at Tinnocks Lane, St Lawrence, a toughened glass window was broken at premises which are being refurbished.

During the early morning of 8 November, 3 crates of milk, about 9 gallons, were stolen from the Southminster Nursing Home on Station Road.


Great Totham

During the day on November 5, at a house in Maldon Road, thieves stole a gas bottle, from outside the front of the house, by cutting the connecting pipe. Damage estimated at £200, value of gas bottle is £30.


Maldon
Between October 28 and November 4, a shed was broken into in Warwick Close and two bicycles were stolen. Any information to Maldon Police Station please.

Late on the night of 9 November, in Wentworth Meadows, damage was caused to a white Citroen Berlingo and a Land Rover Discovery 944.

Overnight on 8/9 November, on Fambridge Road, a green Volvo 850 SE was damaged when the front windscreen wiper was bent upwards.

At Maldon Road, Langford, between 1 and 2 pm on 4 November, a blue Mercedes Sprinter was broken into, causing £150 of damage. Any information to Pc Andrew Long.

On November 4, around 8.00am, someone entered the yard of Banyards Taxi and Minibus, The Causeway, by scaling the fence. They broke into a Ford Transit van, ripped out the panels and stole various parts, valued at £1000. Any information to Pc Lea Keene.

On 6 November at 1.00pm, a male stole perfume from Superdrug. He is described as a white male, in his 30’s, around 6’ tall, large build, with light brown short hair, a scar on his left cheek, and wearing a dark green jacket and jeans.

Around 1.30pm on November 5, a purse was stolen from the handbag of an elderly lady, whilst she was in Peacocks. She had put her handbag onto the floor whilst she was looking through a clothing rail. When she got into Poundstretchers, she discovered the purse was missing.

Around 1.55pm, an elderly lady on a mobility scooter, had her purse stolen in Peacocks. One female distracted her, whilst the other unzipped her handbag, which was in the basket at the front of the scooter, taking her purse, bank cards and a bus pass. The suspect is described as being a white female, in her early 20’s, about 5’322 tall, slim build, with a foreign accent, wearing a black hat and coat. At around 5.00pm on the same day, a purse was stolen from a customer in Iceland, after she left the purse at the till.


Tollesbury

Overnight on November 3/4, persons unknown attempted to force entry into a unit on the Industrial Estate at Woodrolfe Road. They were unsuccessful in gaining entry but did tag a window “TC”. If anyone knows who the tag belongs to, please contact Pc Richard Hamilton.

Between 4/5 November, at East Street, a white Fiat Ducato van was broken into.


Stow Maries

Overnight on 4/5 November, from a commercial property in Woodham Road, thieves stole 50-60 four foot long tree trunks.



Central Woodham Ferrers

From Woodham Road South, overnight on 4/5 November, a secured Kubota mini digger was removed from a compound at the side of the road. Digger is valued at £25000.


Little Baddow

During the evening of 8 November, at a house in The Ridge, a weight plate was thrown through the rear windscreen of a VW Golf.


Rettendon

From a house in Rettendon Common, on 5 November, the garage window was forced and an internal door broken. A number of items were stolen, including a laptop computer, jewellery, Nintendo Wii, sat nav etc. Value of goods is £30000

Scam Children in Need

Not in our area yet... but be aware of this please

Reports have been received concerning an individual who has been calling door-to-door in the Shoebury area claiming to be running for Children in Need and asking for sponsorship up front. He is unable to provide any paperwork, when challenged.



Please be on your guard. As far as is known he has so far been unsuccessful in obtaining any money. Lets keep it that way. Any sightings etc should be reported to the police immediately on 0300 333 4444. No description currently available except he is male, white and in his 20s

Burnham on Crouch

Between October 30/31, the nearside front window of a Vauxhall Vivaro was smashed and a portable DVD player stolen, at St Mary’s Road. Any information to Pc Alan Bowen.

At Millfields Caravan site, between October 19 and November 1, thieves broke a window on a caravan to gain entry and stole a TV, DVD, children’s toys and alcohol. Any information to Sgt Phil Morley.

At Burnham on Crouch Rugby Club, between 30 October and 1 November, a side door of a secure portacabin was forced and a black gentleman’s mountain bike, together with several crates of “Poweraid” drinks, were stolen.

In the Car Park of the East of England Co-op, Foundry lane, between 29 and 31 October, the drivers window of a Vauxhall vectra was smashed and attempts were made to start and drive off the vehicle, unsuccessfully. Damage is estimated at £1,000. The thieves left with a pumpkin, stolen from inside the car. Any information to Pc Lea Keene.

Latchingdon

From a yard in Maldon Road, overnight on 27/28 October, a yellow Stania tipper was stolen and driven away through the locked gates, causing £4,000 of damage. The tipper is worth around £50,000. Any information to Pc Rod Gaskin.

Southminster

In Princes Road between October 27/28, the offside drivers door and wing of a VW GT was starched, causing £400 worth of damage. Information to Pc Rod Gaskin.

At Steeple Hall, Canney Road, Steeple, between 24/29 October,the lock from a fuel storage tank was removed and approximately 100 litres of heating oil removed, together with a ladder. Information to Pc Sam Pateman.

Between 29/30 October, at a building under construction in Southminster Road, Asheldham, thieves broke in and stole a boiler and radiators. Information to Pc Sam Pateman.



Mayland

Around 9.00pm on 29 October, a front garden brick wall in the Drive was damaged. Information to Pc Sam Pateman.

At North Drive around 9.00pm on 31 October, a pumpkin was thrown at a window, breaking the outer pane.

At Imperial Avenue on 31 October, a double glazed lead light window was shattered by persons unknown, causing damage estimated at £400.

Tillingham

The Bowls Club at Vicarage Lane was targeted twice – on 30 October, when 4 small pictures were stolen (and later recovered) and a glass panel in the front door was smashed.

Great Totham

During the day of 29 October, in Maldon Road, an air rifle and carrying bag, worth £1,000, were stolen. Information to Pc Patrick Snape.


Heybridge

Between 8.00 and 10.00pm on 22 October, at Creek Hall Road, two bikes – electric blue gentlemans suspension mountain bike and a aluminium suspension gentlemans bike with a skull and crossbones sticker – were stolen. Two male suspects were seen running from the location – both aged between 17-20, with slim build. Any information to Pc Rod Gaskin.

At Harvest Way overnight on 28/29 October, two cars – VW Beetle Cabriolet and Silver Saab 93 Vector Sports Estate – were broken into. Items were stolen, including a set of golf clubs, TomTom and Garmin Sat Nav systems, laptop computer, iPods and DVD equipment. Total value estimated at £7,000. Overnight on 29/30 October, from Everest Way, a bicycle was stolen. Bike is an Onza T-Vee trial bike, grey frame, black wheels with grey line running through the middle of tyre, black handlebars, front forks with white masking tape wrapped around them, black seat 10cm long, few scratches on middle frame, hedgehog logos on bike. At Temple Way, around 10.30pm on 1 November, a lit firework was posted through the letterbox, causing damage to the floor and carpet estimated at £600. Any information to Mr Arran Shave. This is a dangerous thing to do – please ensure that all NHW members in the area are aware as there could be repeats for the next couple of weeks.

Maldon

Overnight on 27/28 October, a parking ticket machine was broken into, causing £400 of damage. Nothing was stolen. Any information to Pc Cally MacIver.

Overnight on 27/28 October, at Brickhouse Farm Community Centre, Poulton Close, lead flashing has been stolen from the roof, causing £500 of damage. The lead is worth about £100.

At the Old Iron Works, Fullbridge, overnight on ½ November, two windows were smashed with a brick, causing £700 of damage. Information to Pc Sonia Mirrington.

A mobile phone was stolen from an unattended bag on 31 October at the Rose and Crown.
(Clearly she did not have one of our purse/handbag alarms).

Woodham Mortimer

At a house in Chelmsford Road, during the morning of 29 October, the front door was forced and a wallet containing euros was stolen. Any information to Dc Alison Cotter.

Wickham Bishops

Overnight on 30/31 October, the lock on a meal container at a property development was forced and a vacuum cleaner stolen. Any information to Pc Wendy Brown.

West Hanningfield

Insecure stables were broken into and tack, valued at £300 was stolen. Contact Essex Police Mounted Unit for information on equine security.

From a farm in Helmons Lane West on 28 October, garden tools, petrol and petrol cans were stolen, valued at £1300.

Rettendon

Overnight on 31 October/1 November, at Rettendon Primary School, a catering trailer with 3 catering ranges in it, was stolen. Total value is over £10,000.

Bicknacre

From a house in Lodge Road, during the night of 30 October, thieves broke in and removed car keys and other items. Believed to have left by the front living room window. They drove away the car, an almost new Black Ford Focus, taking a 40” TV, clothing, wallet and purse, cash and various bank cards. Please warn everyone not to leave car keys on view or to hand.

Danbury

On 30 October, at a house in Moor Hall Lane, someone walked in the insecure back door, whilst the owners were in the house, and took the keys to a Silver Toyota Landcruiser, which they then drove away.
Please warn everyone not to leave car keys on view or to hand and make sure doors are secured, especially after dark.
